Arrive (Entebbe Airport) early enough (not past noon) to transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Expect chimp trekking in Kibale Forest. Exit to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will enjoy the big game sighting and boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Proceed to Bwindi for the ultimate gorilla trekking experience. After gorilla trekking, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy an afternoon (evening) game viewing and the morning park (nature) walk then return to Entebbe.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrive Entebbe (early), pick up from Airport and Transfer to Kibale Forest NP.

Hopefully, your flight is scheduled for an early (not past noon) landing in Entebbe. Your safari will start from the Entebbe International Airport where you will be received by the assigned driver/guide and depart for Kibale Forest NP (about 6 hours’ drive). This park is popular for its primates like the chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest's monkey, Uganda mangabey (Lophocebus ugandae). On your chimpanzee trails, these can be seen swinging in the forest trees and others feeding on the wild fruits. You will reach and do little but check into your accommodation where you will have dinner and the overnight rest.

Day 2

Chimp tracking Kibale Forest and afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP.

Have breakfast and head to the rangers’ post where you will receive some briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the chimps in the Kibale Forest. An experienced ranger guide will take you chimp tracking (Kibale Forest) and you will be amazed by the presence of primates here. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will have a full hour in their presence. You will return to the lodge for lunch and thereafter you will head out for Queen Elizabeth National Park (about 2-3 hours’ drive). You will arrive in the evening and overnight at your booked accommodation.

Day 3

Queen’s Morning game drive and afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel.

Be up early and have your breakfast. Proceed for a morning game drive to the Kasenyi plains and be on the look for: Lions, Elephants, Bush bucks, Cape Buffaloes, Waterbucks, Giant Forest Hogs, Uganda kob, among others. Return to your accommodation for some rest time and lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel which connects Lakes George and Edward and you will surely be fascinated by the concentrations of giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water shores. You will have dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 4

Exit Queen, Transfer to Bwindi with en route game viewing in Ishasha area.

Have breakfast then set off (about 5 hours’ drive excluding time in Ishasha) for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park – famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions.

The chance of spotting these lions is about 70% though sometimes they are really hard to spot (most especially when they’re down in the grassland looking for prey). Hoping you get the chance to spot them, the sight will be spectacular! Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a big habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harboring an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population) including several habituated groups, which can be tracked. heck in your accommodation, With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 5

Gorilla trekking Bwindi & (optional) community, cultural encounter or just relax.

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. Return for some rest and lunch at the accommodation. If time and energy allow, you may proceed for the (optional) community, cultural encounter. Else, just relax after a strenuous early part of the day trekking gorillas.

Day 6

Transfer to Lake Mburo NP, relax and proceed for the park (bush) walk to salt lick.

Have breakfast and drive off (about 5-6 hours) to Lake Mburo NP. Drive past the intensely terraced Kigezi hill slopes into Mbarara town and finally Lake Mburo NP. Arrive in the park in the early afternoon and take some rest before proceeding out for the bush (park) walk. On this walk, expect to encounter the gigantic eland antelopes, zebras, topis, impalas, Uganda kob and Cape buffalos among others. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight rest. OPTIONAL: In case you’re interested, you may go out for the breathtaking Mburo night game drive. During the night game drive, expect to sight nocturnal creatures including huge snakes, python, hyena, owls and the elusive leopard (on a lucky day) among others. However, the cost for the night game drive is excluded and payable on the ground (as may be specified).

Accommodation: Eagle’s Nest Mburo Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Drive Time: 5-6 hours.

Day 7

Mburo morning game drive and transfer to Entebbe to catch flight back home.

Enjoy your breakfast as early as possible then proceed for an exciting morning game drive to see wildlife including: Zebras, Giraffes and Eland, Topi and other antelope, Cape buffaloes among others. Thereafter, return to the accommodation for checkout and then depart to Entebbe Airport (about 5 hours’ drive) to catch flight out (recommended for 18:00 onward). OPTIONAL: There is also Horseback safari in the park at an extra cost of USD 110 (2hrs), USD 130 (3hrs), and USD 160 (4hrs with picnic breakfast). Cycling if anyone is interested, with a bike costing USD 20 (1 – 3hrs) and another USD 20 for the group guide.
